Liquid Biopsy Working Group

Analysis of tumour-derived biomarkers in body fluids, so called liquid biopsies, are emerging rapidly evolving tools for children and adolescents with brain tumors. In the future, liquid biopsies may be used to aid in diagnosis, monitoring and surveillance of brain tumors. Accounting for the vast heterogeneity of analyses, methods and biological specimens available for liquid biopsies and the particular challenges in brain tumors the SIOPe Liquid Biopsy Group was founded as an interdisciplinary group in 2023 to facilitate development and implementation across pediatric neuro-oncology.

Vision

Individualize and enhance management of pediatric brain tumors by liquid biopsies

Mission

Facilitate implementation and development of liquid biopsy methods in translational research and clinical trials through consultance service.

Support integration of liquid biopsies into clinical trial development, establishing diagnostic standards and integration with overall advancements in pediatric brain tumor care.

Projects

Establishing a standard for liquid biopsy analyses within CNS tumor trials

Haromization of liquid biopsy implementation in brain tumor trials accross Europe

SOUP: Liquid biopsy study to personalize treatment for pediatric brain tumors, aiming for earlier detection, optimized surgical planning, and real-time monitoring of response to treatment

Clinical Trials: MB6, MEMMAT, LOGGIC, HGG, ATRT
